Well, Miss Kinley will be 8 months old here shortly!! She is such a joy and blessing to us....I am not sure where these last 8 mos have gone!

This past month has been filled with 'firsts' for her!

~She got her first tooth while we were on vacation....the 2nd has now appeared also!

~She learned how to clap her hands and is so proud! We are now working on "Praise the Lord!"

~She has been diagnosed with her first ear infection and just recently got her second!

~She has learned how to go from laying to sitting and vice versa!

~Just this morning I saw her actually move her hands/legs in a crawling motion....it won't be long now!

~She can actually eat 'puffs' without gagging!

~Just yesterday she attempted to pull herself up on our coffee table!

~That's all I can think of for now...but I know theres more!

So tonite at supper we were asking him our phone number, address, city, state and country, etc. When we were finished he looked at us and smiled.....and then proceeded to ask us what his web address was? www.????

The Sunday after we got home we were able to go on a date with Soren to The Lion King! First of all...it was an amazing show to see! But most of all....it was awesome to 'see' the show through Soren's eyes! We had an absolutely wonderful time!!

The mom's were invited to preschool for a Valentines Day program! I absolutely LOVE seeing Soren stand up there being so loud and proud to share the songs & poems they've memorized!! Of course the highlight for him was the treats that were served afterwards!! :)

It's been so goregous here that we bundled Miss Roo up and put her in the swing for her first ride....needless to say...she LOVED it!! It will be a fun summer for sure!

With all the fun things going on we haven't got much 'down' time....so yesterday the kids and I stayed home, with our pj's on, and just hung out! What a great way to end the week!!

The beginning of February brought a much needed adult only vacation to our house!! The kids got to stay with my sister and love being involved in all the action at their house! While we got to enjoy some much needed sleep, sun, lazy days, pool/ocean time and LOTS of good food! I am not sure who had more fun though....Soren has many stories of his adventures at Siri's!!!

This past week I was organizing some of the great hand-me-downs that we have gotten and came across these bows!! I think they are super cute....but just don't think to put them in Kin's hair on a daily basis. Well, Soren thought we should try them all out.....it's tough being the little sister!!

I LOVE that it was warm enough outside for Soren to spend 2 hrs playing only to come in with WET, WET clothes!!! :)

7 months old

Well, we were able to celebrate Kinley's 7 month milestone by taking her to the MD where she was diagnosed with her first bilateral ear infection!! Uggghhhh!!! However, she is happy as can be now that the antibiotics are working.....and I am hoping this a one time diagnosis!! Soren had already had 2 or 3 infections as this age....so I am hoping she can skip the tubes that he had!!

Kinley is feeling a bit under the weather with a cold....so it was a good day to stay home and just clean and hang out!!

Soren loves to hang out near his sister and just chat with her!!!

Kinley has just start to 'get-up' on all four extremities....of course, I can't catch her in action...but crawling is in our future!

Mr Clean was helping me with dusting while our banana muffins were baking.

We have been so blessed this winter by very mild weather (until today!!)!!

Scott is loving this weather for farming/chores/etc! The kids and I are loving playing at the park in January in fleece coats and just playing around outside our house!!!

This past week has been filled with many holiday events! Some with great friends, others with family (extended and just ours!). One of our annual traditions to go Lorie Line downtown Mpls with a yummy meal at a new place beforehand! This year we at at Fogo de Chao!! It was absolutely delightful but even-more-so because the Brandel's were there! You see, had it not be for Matt & Nancy, Scott & I wouldn't have met & married! We have a lot to thank them for!! It was great to see you both (and baby#2)!!!

This past week we were able to have two of our favorite kids stay with us! Abram & Abbott came to hang out with us as their folks spent some time away. I wish you could hear the giggling, pure joy, gut forming laughter that filled our house this week!! It was a great week and we enjoyed every bit of their time here!

When we were at my folks for Thanksgiving, Kathy (church lady/friend of my folks) gave us some tractor lights!! Well, we 'gave' them to Soren on Dec 1st and he is/was beyond excited!!

Last week Scott went to the Vikings game with my bro-in-law and his kids! Of course, when he got home Soren wanted to know all about it. The *most* important question to Soren was what did Daddy have to eat there. Scott mentioned that he had a brat, pop and some nachos. Soren then replied, "What about your fruit & veggies, Dad?" Hmmmm.....they didn't have those at the game, I guess!!! :)

How our little babe is already 5 months old....I am not so sure!!?!? She is absolutely a joy to us (we may be a bit biased, though!)!!!! She is turning into a bundle of smiles. She is *mostly* sleeping through the nite...from 7.30pm-7am. With 2 or 3 naps per day! She is loving eating her veggies, especially peas, and most recently pears & bananas! We are blessed this Christmas season!

There is RARELY a morning that Scott & I are here together. This morning was an exception. I got up to feed Kinley at 7am and then brought her back to bed to cuddle with us as we didn't have to get up and get going asap. Well, it wasn't to long after I got back in bed that I heard some rummaging going on downstairs! You see, we got our Cmas tree yesterday after coming home from Grammie Sue's and Soren was intent on it getting decorated before church. After constant asking I finally got out of bed to see what all the commotion was about. Well, Soren had gotten out all of the Cmas decor tubs and had hauled them to the bottom of the stairs ready to be carried up by an adult. He had also brought the one tub up he could carry and had taken inventory of it's contents. He could not contain his excitement as we MADE him eat breakfast and get dressed for church. He is asleep now...... just waiting to decorate the tree after naptime.

He got to put ONE ornament on the tree before church....of course it was a tractor!!

Two major milestones were achieved this morning at the Newberg house~

Kinley tried rice cereal...and the jury is still out on it from her perspective! :)

However, the cereal must've given her an extra burst of energy as she rolled over today!! Maybe it was a fluk.....but she was a happy camper! You can see her right arm is still tucked under her.

Harvest Time

The long-awaited ride in the combine arrived today! Soren has been asking to ride with Grandpa and/or Scott for days now! Well, tonite he rode with Grandpa Gary for 2 1/2 hrs while Kinley & I hung out in the van. I am pretty sure that he would have rode longer but it was supper time for us all, much to his dismay!

Soren & Scott started out the journey with bringing a wagon out to the field, some 4 miles away!

Apple picking-Round three

Today we got to go out to our farm and pick apples in preparation for making some much beloved applebutter!! Soren has been able to pick with the Daniel family, the Schueler family and now with his family and hasn't grown tired of the fun of it!!! It was a goregous late morning/afternoon to spend at the farm!

Diversified

It is not a surprise to any of you that Soren loves tractors!! ALL kinds of tractors! However, John Deere does such a great job of marketing to kids that *most* of his equipment/clothing is John Deere. Well, the Newberg family happens to drive Case or red tractors! So, it's a long standing debate (friendly, of course) that Soren is being converted to JD due to the availability of green kid things!! Over the last 4 years one of my very generous co-workers (who has 4 grown boys and knows how boys love tractors) has given Soren many JD shirts and made numerous JD blankets, etc. While we were in the hospital with Kinley, Scott gave her a hard time about not providing any Case items to Soren! So yesterday, I saw her and she had made Soren 2 Case t-shirts and one very nice Case blanket (mostly, for Scott, tho)! Therefore, Soren is now diversified in his options for clothing and snuggling!!

Last week we were invited over to my friend Beths house to pick apples from their HONEYCRISP tree!!! Soren thoroughly enjoyed the picking, the excitement of it, and bringing his wheelbarrow to haul away the apples!! I thoroughly enjoyed the FRESH apples! We love Honeycrisp apples at our house, but I didn't realize how much better they taste when they are just picked!! Yummy!!

The past couple of days we spent helping my sisters family out in ND. Their house got flooded this past spring and because I was VERY pregnant at the time we weren't able to help them! However, I wanted to go up and help before I go back to work! SO really....Scott was the one who helped the most and did the hard labor....I just got to play with kids and spend time at the park! :) Soren loves his cousins so....and just can't spend enough time with them!!

My sister checked out 4 "All About John Deere" DVD's at their library....of course they were a hit with Soren!!!

Anniversary

So almost 8 years ago Scott proposed to me! He planned on taking me up to Mt. Tom at Sibley for a romantic picnic but the weather was horrible! So instead we had a picnic inside with some of our fav foods from Green Mill! Well, last weekend I got to surprise Scott with a dinner cruise on Lake Minnetonka to remember that awesome day! The Lord has blessed me with one amazing husband!

It was an ABSOLUTELY gorgeous evening outside!! I couldn't have asked for a better night! Kinley accompanied us and thoroughly enjoyed her first boatride:)!!!

Final Days

This morning we started off with the plan to bike on the local trails and then meet some friends for lunch and playdate at the nearby park.

We did get to bike/walk for some exercise!

Then we went to the nearby beach so I could feed Kinley! My picture wouldn't download but Soren spent that time collecting feathers, rocks & sticks with strict instructions NOT to get wet as we were headed to the park later!

Soren asked to take a picture of Kinley & myself...not bad for a 4 yr old!!!!

Well, the water was just to tempting so I agreed to roll up his pants and let him just get his feet wet!!

By now I had realized that it wasn't worth the battle of wet vs dry! So I had called our friends to ask if they'd like to join us at the beach instead of the park....thankfully they agreed!! So, the pants came off b/c they were getting to wet/heavy! Soren & Allison playing.

By the end of the morning everything was wet! Literally from head to toe:)!

These are the final days of one of our most favorite summer activities! I love spending time at the beach as does Soren! Kinley mostly napped today...but I am looking forward to her enjoying the beach next year!

Preschool begins

Preschool started today!! Soren was all smiles as he woke up, ate breakfast and got dressed in a matter of 15 minutes!!! It was so fun to watch him walk excitedly & confidently in to see Mrs. Huisinga & Mrs. Watlund! I am excited for the learning he will accomplish this year as he is just beginning to get excited about learning himself!!

Like a sister

I have always looked up to my sister! I always wanted to be like her growing up, dress like her and act like her (much to her dismay, I'm sure, at times) etc! Even now she is one of the people I admire so much! So Soren has been asking to be 'like' his friend Aubrey now for a while! We do spend enough time with Aubrey that she is 'like' a sister to him! Yesterday, we ended up at the same park and he wanted to be 'like' Aubrey and climb the jungle gym/ropes/slides etc! Today, as he realized that I was planning on cleaning he couldn't contain his excitement as he asked to 'brush the potty' like Aubrey! Of course, I said "YES!" He waited ever so patiently as I worked on the upstairs bathroom....and then waited so patiently as I worked on the downstairs bathroom! "Next time mom, can I put the stuff in the gets rid of the germs, like Aubrey?" Hmmmm....I am loving this! :)

Kinley had her 2 month check up yesterday! Now, I know that she is smaller than Soren but I didn't realize how much smaller until I looked up his stats. She is currently 11lb 14oz.....Soren was 14lb 12oz at 2 month. Now, it that just the difference in boy vs girls or what? Either way...she is happy & healthy! :)

The final event of the weekend was Kinley's baptism! It was a wonderful day to commit to Kinley to raise her in a Christian home! Scott sang Psalm 121 and I played the piano. My Dad got to baptize Kinley! She is a blessing to us!

This past weekend we were able to celebrate Soren's 4th birthday with lots of family and friends! As you guessed the theme was John Deere.....his absolute favorite!

Once again, it's hard to believe that 2 months have passed! Kinley remains a great baby! She is sleeping from 8pm to 6.30-7am. Feeding before I go to bed and once in the night! She sleeps for 4-8 hrs at a time! Where does time go?

10 yrs ago these guys were all working at Target & were bachelors! Fast-forward 10 yrs and they are all married with kids! It was a different gathering than 10 yrs ago but still fun! :)

Last night my good friends/small group held a baby shower for Kinley & I! It was awesome:) We started out the evening by 'popcorn prayer' for Kinley & I! I was overwhelmed with emotion as these many different ladies prayed for us! For now and what's to come in life....for the good times & challenging times! It was awesome to look around at the wide variety of women there and just what they had to offer/encourage/share! Also, because I am not a fan of the traditional shower games the ladies made a toybox for Kinley. Complete with building blocks for A to Z! Of course there was great food and great company!

This was Soren's first rollercoaster ride and he LOVED it!

The highlight for him was the tractor-pull!! Kinley & I didn't go due to noise, etc so here is the picture of him right before going with Daddy to watch!! He's already talking about next year when we go!

So, Soren has 4 John Deere t-shirts. 2 brown & 2 black. They are well-loved by him! Because I do laundry often...these beloved t-shirts are washed often! Unless it's a special day or Sunday I usually let Soren pick out his play clothes for the day! Well, you guessed it he ALWAYS picks out his JD shirts! He does have other shirts he just chooses not to wear them! I must say I will be more than happy when these shirts get passed down to another tractor-loving boy!

There are a few things to be said about this picture:

1. HOW is my baby girl one month old already!?!?

2. I stole this idea of monthly shots from a few friends of mine-thanks!!

3. The pink bear/buddy is from Soren! It's the first present that Kinley got at the hospital (with help from Grammie Sue)! For about the first week and even now sometimes, when Kinley cries Soren makes sure that the pink 'buddy' is close by to 'comfort' her!

4. At 1 month, Kinley is a great baby! She eats every 3 hrs during the day and sleeps from about 8.30pm to 6.30am. She does eat before I go to bed and up once during the night!

After a relaxing afternoon of naps and hanging out we went out to Green Lake to spend some time, just the four of us! Soren loving the rocks, watching boats, etc.

Raspberries...finally

Last July a co-worker of mine invited us over to pick raspberries from her patch! It was HIT with Soren. Because our good friends live close to my co-worker we drive by her house alot! Well, Soren has been asking to pick raspberries rather frequently since last summer. My response was often, "No Soren it's JANUARY, we can't pick raspberries until summer." Well, we got the call this week to pick raspberries and are loving them! They are oh so good on vanilla ice cream, cereal or just as a snack! Here are a few pics!

This past Friday we were able to go to our beloved summer swimming beach!!! It was Kinley's inguaral run at it and she immensely enjoyed it.....as you can see she and Abbott (9 mos) napped well together as the other kids played hard in the water!! Hopefully there will be many more naps by the young ones and happy swimmers with the older ones!!

Yesterday, the it finally felt like summer! The sun was warm and the nice breeze made being outside very tolerable. If you happened to drive by our house you could have gotten your trike/scooter or car washed by Soren himself!! Kinley was learning how to 'supervise!'

So I am FINALLY catching up with our biggest news!! Kinely Violet was born last Friday at 3.51pm. She is absolutely perfect (ok, I'm biased!) She weighed in at 7lb 13oz with dark brown hair. We are home now and tonite will be our first as a family of four!! Here are some random pictures of the last four days with many more to come! Praise the Lord for such a blessing!!

After being here for more than 2.5 weeks Kari went home today!! I have to tell you that it is significantly quieter today :)....but I do miss the shoe loving, buckle loving, baby loving, bag loving, carbohydrate loving little girl!! On Sunday, Scott and I drove up to Bismarck to get our niece Kari for a stay at our house!! Words cannot describe the scenes that we encountered!!! Memorial Day 5K

As mentioned before, Scott ran his 3rd annual Memorial Day 5k this past weekend (I have to admit, I was a little sad that I couldn't participate)!!! Above is a pic of some of the people from our church family that ran it also!!!

A laundry list of praises and prayers.....

~For Scott's family as they celebrate a wonderful life, yet mourn, the loss of Grandma Olson.
~For Soren finishing his first year of preschool....WOW!! Where did that year go??
~For my sister's family and my folks....as they prepare for flooding. Which means attempting to move to high ground, losing their houses/belongings and ALL the stress that comes with a natural diaster.
~For Scott (and all other farmers) that they will have nice weather to finish planting/springwork.
~For only 4-ish weeks left of being pregnant....that this little one will enter this world with a healthy body and all goes well for us both!
~YAY for a 6o-something year old grandpa (Scott's dad) to run/walk his first 5k this weekend with his 30-something year old son!

I have been blessed to be Soren's mother and Scott's wife! For Mother's Day I got flowers delivered to work by my two handsome boys and a card that Soren made at preschool. The teacher had the kids 'fill in the blank' about their moms and this is what Soren's said!!! My mom is the best mom in the world! Her name is Solveig and she is 49 yrs old. She weighs 20 lbs and has blue eyes and blonde hair. Her favorite food is sandwhiches and salad. My mom looks prettiest when she wears a dress. I love my mom because she makes supper. The best present I could give my mom is clothes. I love you mom!!

Due to the not-so-nice spring (or lack thereof) spring we've had, we haven't gotten our deck furniture out or backyard swing up!!! In preparation for this new babe to arrive, we moved Soren downstairs on Sunday. I have to admit, I was nervous, much more nervous than Scott or Soren I think! It has gone fantasticly (is that a word?)!!! Soren loves his new room! We still have a shelf to put up and a picture or two to hang...but we are getting there! Below is a pic of him sitting on his bed.....per his request!The constructions 'stickers' are a hit!

Spring party/program

Yesterday, Soren's preschool held their Spring party/program. I was SUPER bummed because I had to work and couldn't find anyone to trade...but here are some of the pics that Scott took! Soren was the 'apple' in the Hungry Catepillar.

I'm not sure what song they were singing here, but I heard that you could hear Soren loud and clear as they were signing:-)!!!

I know this won't be the last event that I'll miss of my children, but it was the first and a bummer. So this has prompted us to think about buying a video camera. I'm looking for suggestions, pros/cons, preferences!?!? Just any help please!

Easter eggs & cookie decorating

Today we got to spend the morning decorating the traditional Easter eggs and cookies!!! Of course, it is MUCH more fun to do with friends and so we got to help out Abram and Aubrey!! Soren asked for green & yellow frosting (John Deere colors).

Painting the eggs was a hit!

Emily also showed us that instead of 'wrapping' the eggs and putting them in boiling water, a blow-dryer is MUCH more kid friendly!!

Soren & I made the actual sugar cookies on Monday. This anti-craft/color/project boy actually 'helped' me make ALL of the sugar cookies! I was impressed!

I love springtime!! Soren has been SO excited to get outside and play!! Today, I just smiled as he tried all morning to catch the robins that reside in our neighborhood!!! Thankfully, he hasn't caught one yet!!!!

We got to spend this past weekend with my folks in SD. It was a successful weekend by all accounts with lots of projects completed and/or started. The list includes:
~4 swaddling blankets for our new babe
~8 burp clothes
~Curtains for the nursery
~Wall hangings for the nursery
~A quilt for the baby
~A nursing cover for myself
~Stripping a shelf for Soren's room
~2 batches of homemade granola
~1 batch of homemade buns
~Yummy meals to accompany all the hard work
~A trike ride or two to the various parks
~lamp shade cover
~Some tractor playing time with Grandpa
~An airplane ride for myself

Hmmm....that's all I can think of right now! What a good but tiring weekend!!!

Today Soren & I spent a good hour walking/riding around the neighborhood! Man, it felt good to get out and enjoy the warmer (34 degrees) weather. However, I feel like I'm going to be doing LOTS of laundry this spring as Soren managed to peddle through every puddle and drudge through every mud patch!!! What a great day!

I have MANY favorite things! Soren has had a cold for this past week and today he asked if we could just snuggle for a while!! Of course, I said "YES!" Don't get me wrong, I don't love that he told me his head is hurting, that is nose is a faucet, that he's coughing like crazy and just in general doesn't feel well!! But I do love that he loves to snuggle and sing lullabies while rocking. I know this won't last forever as he will be larger than I am someday...so for now I will enjoy this favorite of mine until it's not an option anymore!

This past Tuesday, we were able to spend the day at the MN Children's Museum! It was a great day filled with play and fun, that went WAY to fast! Aubrey 'the beaver' sliding out of her den.

Bounce Depot

The Schueler family invited us to join them for a kids day at the Bounce Depot in St. Cloud! The kids made many trips up and down the slides....I have to admit a went with about 1 in 3 times!!! The mom's got to enjoy a yummy coffee AND chipotle for lunch (while kiddos ate pizza). The great part was that we were back by nap time and boy did Soren nap well! It was just a nice morning trip out of town!!!

Have been a hit at our house! The is the first time we've done lessons and Soren has absolutely loved them. I hope that his love for the water continues!
