F22 is back in service...well, almost!

This fall we got rid of our landline which left a 'sore' spot on our wall! We've debated about how to cover it up, shopped for many different options but just hadn't found something we could agree on! Well, while we were at my folks this Christmas they were getting rid of some of their 'collectibles!' This phone was one that Scott and I got excited about as it was the one my dad used on the Sletto farm growing up! Today, Scott mounted it on the wall covering that 'sore' spot that we just couldn't agree on! I love it!! What a great piece of family history to have! F 22 was the number for the Sletto farm. Thanks!!

Thoughtfulness....

This week I was working the night shift. Our tradition is that Scott and Soren come and wake me up at 5pm to get ready for work, as I sleep better knowing that I don't have to 'listen' for an alarm clock. Yesterday, Soren jumped into bed with me and asked, "Mama, how was your sleep today?" My answer was, "Great, thanks for asking!" Soren then asked, "Mama, how was your babies sleep today?" Of course, I answered "Great!" That made my heart smile...what a great way to start my day!! Thanks, buddy!!

Christmas Eve

This year we celebrated Christmas at my folks' house in SD with my siblings and their families! Somehow it seems as if the weekend went to fast, we ate WAY to much yummy food and there wasn't enough time to play games and spend time together! However, here are a few of the shots from this weekend!

Lesson learned...hopefully!!

This morning Soren decided NOT to finish his breakfast. The consequence at our house to not finishing breakfast is no morning snack. Let me tell you that snacks are a big deal and we rarely miss one! Of course, he choose not to eat breakfast the day that we were going with friends to see a new baby at another friends house which = a cranky Soren! Well, by 10.30 it was clearly evident that Soren was HUNGRY!! He fussed, and fussed and whined. Well, when we got home he ate: 1 bowl of cheerios with milk, a whole banana, 10-12 sugarsnap peas, 1 cheesestick, 7 fishsticks, a yogurt and 2 glasses of milk. I think he was hungry:-)!! Maybe tomorrow he'll finish his breakfast so that he can have a am snack!!

The weatherman was right....this time!!

This weekend was our annual Lorie Line, yummy supper, parents night out with the Brandel's. This ND girl was DETERMINED to get there!! We left on Saturday am traveling via Hwy 12 and had absolutely no problems! We saw many other cars traveling and no one in the ditch! My thought was that if we could get to the cities it would be NO problem to get to the concert! Well, I was wrong. It didn't take us long once we got into the cities to realize that getting to my cousins in Eden Prairie to drop off Soren was going to be interesting!! At one point, due to frozen windshield wipers, both Scott and I had our heads peaking out of the van to visualize where we were going!! We began to see many cars/trucks in the ditch. After the first 3 miles, we just wanted to get to Eden Prairie and be safe! Well, after some stressful driving, Scott pushing us out (with dress shoes on) more than once!!! We made it to Tammy's!!! Matt & Nancy were unable to make it to the concert also! SO....we met for breakfast this morning at Perkins!! A far cry from the yummy steak/seafood we were going to have last night. But, everyone is safe and no accidents were encountered by our families! It was nice to see my cousin and husband. Enjoy lots of good food, snuggle up next to the fireplace and watch movies! We are very thankful for the warm place that we had to sleep!! Apparently we should have listened to the weatherman this time and stayed home!!!

Having a great attitude...

Our bedtime conversation on Sunday night was:
Soren: Mom, do you have to go to work tomorrow?
Me: Yes, I do.
Soren: Mom, have a good day with your co-workers.
Me: Thanks, I will!
Soren: Mom, PLEASE remember to have a GREAT ATTITUDE!!

How do you respond to that other than just smile and say, "Thanks, buddy!"

Soren's opinion is....

After supper the other night Soren said to Scott, "Two thumbs up on supper dad! Thanks!!" Who knew that beef stroganoff (sp?) could get such a great rating!!

It's finally here...

Sorry, there are no pics of today since my camera batteries are dead and I absolutely COULD NOT find 4 good ones! Uggh!! Anyways, we finally went out last night and purchased our Cmas tree! I think this is the latest that we've ever decorated for Cmas. I've worked that last 5 days and so finding a time for us ALL to get out was impossible! Anyways, Soren woke up today SO SUPER excited to decorate our tree! He didn't even care to eat breakfast (which is very rare that he'd pass up food). So, by 8.15am we were unpacking all the decorations from the basement! He was intent on finding a tractor ornament and wouldn't stop 'unpacking' until we found it! He loved playing with all the decorations! For the better part of the morning only the bottom half of my tree was decorated:-)!! We stayed in our jammies, had hot cocoa, put on the Cmas music and just enjoyed the morning! We've finally begin our official celebrating of the season of Jesus' birth!! However, Soren wants to know what he should bring Jesus on his birthday...I guess we'll have to keep talking about that one!?!?!

Impatiently waiting...

Not much is new at our house except the fact we are excited for the arrival of cousin Micah and cousin Kari! Soren has been asking daily if TODAY is the day! So the day has arrived, Soren is crabbily napping, as who wants to nap when your buddies are coming! We are SO excited to have them here for the next week. Soren has many, many activities planned as to what we are going to do! Stay tuned for some cute cousin pictures....

Until next year....

On Saturday we brought Scott out the last of 'field suppers' for the year. Soren enjoyed chopping stalks and just spending time with Scott. Our tractor loving boy continues his passion!

Trick or Treat

I know that it's hard to imagine (note the sarcasm:-)) that Soren wanted to be a tractor for Halloween!! Our little tractor drove all over the neighborhood to pick up his treats!!! Of course, he tried to avoid the chocolate candy, but we don't mind eating the treats he didn't care for!!!

Baking weekend....

This past weekend, while the uncles were working, the Sletto aunts and cousins got together at Grammie Sue and Grandpa Terry's house for a good time! We made two batches of lefse, yummy applebutter, chokecherry jelly, homemade applesauce and of course new recipes were tried for feeding the troops:-)!!!
Soren spent the first 24hrs watching all the cousins play as he ran a temp of >102....thankfully no one else got sick and he recovered quickly!

Many, many games (outside and inside) were played, books read and just plain fun was had!

The 'little' kids played hard!!

Pumpkins & Pizza

Today the Daniel family joined us for some good old pumpkin carving and yummy pizza. Since both of the daddies were working it was a great way to spend the afternoon. Soren wasn't to sure about the 'guts' of the pumpkin when the Daniel family were here but sure dug in after all the distractions :-) were gone!! We also enjoyed LOTS of pumpkin seeds!

Harvest

3 generations of tractor loving boys. Grandpa (63 yrs old), Daddy (33 yrs old) and Soren (3 yrs)

Today was a busy day at our house! Scott got to accompany Soren on his first ever fieldtrip. They went to a neighboring town to visit a 'farm.' Soren loved that he got to ride on a school bus, go on a hayride and of course see some tractors. We then got to celebrate the birth of Abbott Schueler. Followed by spending over an hour combining the beans with Daddy and Grandpa. He even got to have fries and rootbeer for supper!! What a great day for a 3 yr old!!
