Halloween

It was an absolutely gorgeous evening to go Trick or Treating this year.  Soren asked if Larryboy could make a second appearance and of course I said YES!!!  Kinley got to wear the hand-me-down cow costume from Soren...which I love for warmth!  You may note all the suckers she has in pics...being the second born she had her first taste tonite (I think Soren was atleast 2.5yrs before he got one)...and boy when one was gone she wanted a 'refill!' Hey...whatever kept her content, right!  Happy Halloween! :)

Randomness

Pumpkin preparation this year was NOT a hit with Soren.  He did NOT love de-gutting the pumpkin but was certainly looking forward to some roasted seeds.

 Supervising Daddy's work.
Kinley wanting in one the action...
not loving the taste of raw pumpkin!
Sorry this pic is out of order....she loves to play the piano (it was pj day here!).
 The finished product.
 Reading book during pj day.

A new adventure....glasses!

Soren 'failed' his eye exam last month at his 5 yr well child checkup.  So we made an appt with the Optometrist.  Well, after a series of tests, a weekend of eye drops and lots of 'discussing' Soren now has glasses.  We JUST picked them up before naptime so I have no opinion on them yet.  But here's a pic of our little man.

Halloween craft

Thanks to an idea from my friend, Erica, Soren and I spent the afternoon making 'spiders!' It was an absolute hit and even more fun deciding who to deliver them to!

So sweet....

Soren is our child that is 'up and ready' at 7am sharp!!  I, on the other hand, like to sleep as long as possible in the morning.  Well, this morning was no different..I knew he was moving around in the kitchen but I thought he was attempting to get himself some breakfast (and I was very umotivated as Kin wasn't awake yet) so I just let him be.  Well, after a few minutes he came in, rubbed my arm and head and said, "Come see what's ready in the kitchen!" THAT got me curious.....
This is what my sweet son had done...

Made me some yummy french toast coffee (my fav) in my fav mug!
What a great way to start my day!

Loving Harvest

My kids absolutely LOVE riding along with Scott in the combine and/or tractor!  Tonight was no exception...I think Scott enjoys it also!! :)

Kinley is just 2 months older than Soren was during this harvest season....bringing her out tonite reminded me of Soren 4 yrs ago and how he tried to eat the corn just like she did!

Same look, same family, different year and different field.
 Both kids enjoying the land.

Future occupation

This past Friday, Soren told our babysitter that his future plans include being an artist in Chicago that rides the subways!!  Hmmmm......................

Today's Adventure

It is a DAILY occurance that Soren asks what's on the agenda for the day..not just any agenda but something that includes FUN!!!  This boy LOVES to be active/busy!  So, since it was another gorgeous fall day I surprised him with a new adventure. Well, he's been there 2x before with preschool but not in an unstructed environment.  Our town has a walking bridge over the railroad tracks. Soren was in heaven!  He absolutely loved looking at all the trains, guessing what was inside, where they were headed, which ones were going to be used next, on and on it went! :)  We spent a good hour there and left on the condition that we would return soon and possibly would pack a lunch so we could sit, eat and watch! Who needs the movies, eh!?!

Loving it....

Patiently waiting for the next activity..

This as good as it gets with a 16 month old...

Smiley girl..

Catching up

This year our church started an AWANA program on Wed night and Soren has absoluetly fallen head over heels in love with it!  Here is a picture of the night he got his vest....he asked me to take his pic to share with the Grandma's and Grandpa's!
SO PROUD

Kinley couldn't be more proud of herself that she can now crawl up on furniture and sit like her big brother!  Showing off that smile.

She also love to sit by Soren and 'read.'

We had MANY leaf piles this fall!  Soren loved jumping in them...Kinley...not so much!  Hence, there's no pic of her here.

Kinley LOVES this hand me down broken car we have!

Always ready to 'help!'

Happy Happy girl.

And so it begins....

Today, Soren was working on his 'homework' at the table...Kinley kept pulling her highchair out and I COULD NOT figure out what she wanted.  You see we had just had snack, she threw down ANY and ALL toys I gave her and then it hit me!  She wanted to 'work' like her big brother!  She wanted to model him and do just exactly what he was doing!  So...once I got out some crayons and paper she was one happy camper!!

It *was* a good idea.....I thought!

I have just finished working a weekend of 12 hr nights!! O how I dislike how I feel when trying to return back to a 'normal' schedule!  I feel physically sick, am quick to be grouchy at my kids and husband, feel very unmotivated and just yucky!!! So in an attempt to remain grouch free I had what I thought was a great morning planned.  We headed to the YMCA...I got to workout and the kids played, we headed home to clean up, grabbed a pumpkin latte and headed out to one of the local recreation areas for some fall outdoor fun. Where I could sip on my latte and the kids could run free and jump in leaves!  There were plans of looking for sticks, animal tracks, beaver homes and pretty leaves!! Well...the first 10% of the trail went well and then the littlest one decided that she did NOT like this plan.  There was crying and fussing....I was not able to drink my latte and relax...we got to the bridge and Kinley was NOT happy that we couldn't go in the water.  SO we headed back to the car.  As a consolation to Soren for a hike shortened by his little sister I agreed to stop at the playground. Well this to was short lived as it was not a 15month old appropriate playground. When we left...I had 2 grumpy kids and 1 grumpy mama....NOT what I had planned for the morning at all!!

Soren excited to find walking sticks!

Not a bad shot for a grumpy girl and a 5 yr old photographer.
Soren asked to have his picture taken!
This sums it all up!! :)

ND family time

As many of you know, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma in late August! So, Kinley and I were able to go spend some time with my folks and sister' family this past week....making lots of memories....40 pints of applebutter, wig/scarf/hat shopping, playing outside, and just spending time together!!

Kari LOVED helping run the apple peeler!!

Some pretty cute nieces I have....

Signe helping Kin go down the slide!

When you are a 'big girl' you can do it yourself!

Miss Kari Mari

It was a rough week for Kinley (and I)....as you can see her finger/fingers were in her mouth most of the week and some teeth are trying to pop through.

A rocking chair just her size was just the entertainment she needed.

My sister and Kinley....hmmmm..not quite sure what to say!! :)

Enjoying some snack time...goldfish, raisins and milk.

My mom and her brother Russell...who is also dealing with cancer/health issues!  I don't remember the last time I saw them...it was good to catch up!
